Human Communication and Technology Division
Letter
from the Co-Chairs, HCTD
Talk
about healthy! The Human Communication and Technology Division has
grown big and strong. We are excited and pleased to be a part of
this division with you.
As you prepare to attend the NCA convention in Boston this year, be sure
to get a healthy serving of HCTD offerings. You can search
online for specific sessions, you can see the
complete HCTD program here in this newsletter, or you can
look for the HCTD sections in the Convention-at-a-Glance in your August
2005 SPECTRA. You’ll see
23 scheduled sessions
on everything from
New Media and Communication Theory to
The Role of New and Traditional Communication Technologies Across
Relational Stages. HCTD convention
planners Andy Finn
and Davis Foulger
(thank you for
the gargantuan job well done) have also put together a
TOP STUDENT PAPERS session (Saturday,
November 19th, 12:30 p.m. in Suffolk, Marriott) and a
TOP THREE PAPERS session (Saturday,
November 19th, 2 p.m., Suffolk, Marriott). Both top paper sessions precede
the HCTD business meeting.
Plan to attend
these special sessions; then stay and join us for the
HCTD Business Meeting at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 19th, in the Suffolk Room of the Marriott convention
hotel. Be a part of our research, business, and camaraderie. Consider
nominating someone (or yourself) for a role in this dynamic division.
We have grown to
515 members in our
short history; bring in your colleagues to help us grow and keep our membership
over 500 (see the Drive
for 500 article from
the membership chairs in this newsletter). Last year we had a tremendous
turnout for the HCTD business meeting with numerous nominations for each
position. All this contributes to the strength of the division. Refer
to the officer
list in this newsletter;
contact any one of us to see how you might get involved in HCTD.
See
you in Boston!
