Welcome to the
Human Communication & Technology Division - Fall
2005
Welcome to the
Human Communication and Technology Division (HCTD) of the National
Communication Association (NCA). As a tradition,
we send a newsletter to our members before the Convention of the National
Communication Association in each fall. In this issue of newsletter, you
will read the letter from our co-chairs highlighting
the HCTD program and reviewing the development of the Division. You can
also have an opportunity to preview the details of the HCTD panels in the convention.
You will read our update on the Drive for 500 members that
will help us gain an additional HCTD representative in the NCA Legislative
Assembly. Of course, you can always find our call and contact information for joining
HCTD.

November 17 - 20, 2005
As
fast as technology updates in communication, HCTD stands on the
forefront of fast and “healthy” development. Since its
initiation in 1998, the membership of HCTD has grown to over
500 members.
In this year’s convention, the HCTD program keeps expanding
to the new frontier for exploration, such as laptops in
communication classroom, HDTV and satellite radio, activism on the
Internet, open source politics, and terrorism through the Internet.
At the same time, the HCTD program pushes the study of
communication technologies further in traditional topics, such as
theoretical possibilities in human communication technologies,
international perspectives of communication technologies, and new
and traditional communication technologies in relational
stages.
We hope you will enjoy this edition of our newsletter and we look
forward to welcoming you to Boston in November.
