A Moodle replaces the Wiki

Information Officer's Notes

I started the HCTD Wiki about six years ago when I took over as HCTD Webmaster (now Information officer. There has really been no sustained use of the HCTD wiki over that last six years. Its hard to know what the reasons are. Some of complained that its not secure, but I've had no additional feedback as to what the issues might be. Its a sign of something when the spam ourruns the contributions ... and there isn't much spam. It suggests a lack of critical mass which probably won't develop. That's easy to understand with all the online choices we have today. I haven't shut the wiki down (yet). Its still accessible from http://hctd.net/wiki. But I have eliminated the pointers from the HCTD web site and will shut it down unless I get feedback indicating that it is needed/wanted.

You may, however, be interested in trying out a Moodle learning environment, which has the advantage of being a verified login environment and being a credible public domain alternative to Blackboard. I'm operating a Moodle learning/discussion space in teaching my classes and have opened up an NCA HCTD discussion space there. I can add features (including a secure Wiki) there based on your interests, but have started by opening up a discussion forum which you can join by registering, responding to an e-mail registration confirmation, and (when prompted) entering the key ("hctd5").

If you have an experimental space you'd like to open up to HCTD members, please let us know so we can let folks know about it.
